About Argos

Argos is a city of Peloponnese that belongs to the Prefecture of Argolida. It is considered to be the most ancient city in the continental Europe due to the existence of many archaeological monuments dating back to the Late Bronze Age when it was one of the most important centers of Mycenaean civilization and one of the oldest in Greece. It is the largest city in the county with a population of 22,209 inhabitants. It is the center of the commercial and industrial activities of the county.

In today's times, the most commercial streets of the city are located around St. Peter's Square (Kapodistriou Street, Danaou Street, Vasileos Konstantinou Street) and Corinth Street. The pedestrian streets (the pedestrianized streets of Michail Stamou, Panagi Tsaldari and El. Venizelos) are the most popular spot in the city where there is a large number of shops and cafes.
